“For some time now it has seemed to me that the two questions we should ask of any strong landscape are these: firstly, what do I know when I am in this place that I can know nowhere else? And then, vainly, what does this place know of me that I cannot know of myself?”
Robert MacFarlane

Photography isn’t just how I make my living, it’s how I live. From freezing moments in time to creating something that goes beyond the limits of human vision, I’m obsessed with using a camera to express my thoughts and experiences.

The idea behind this website is to create a record of my photographic investigations and share my enthusiasm for the outdoors, wildlife, photography and conservation.

I have been a freelance photographer for over 10 years. Working for a variety of clients including M&S and Coca Cola, as well as a number of magazines and publications. A diverse client base means I’m continually practicing and developing a broad range of photography techniques and skills.

I am internationally exhibited, with prints held in both private and public collections including the Royal Photographic Society’s permanent collection. I have also been nominated for many awards, most recent additions include: Commended International Garden Photographer of the Year (twice), Highly Commended British Wildlife Photography Awards, Royal Photographic Society International Print Awards (twice),  Lumen Digital Arts Prize Shortlisted, Renaissance Photography Prize finalist, Vantage Art Prize Finalist.

Helping people develop new skills is something I’m passionate about. I have been involved in delivering workshops and participating in education programmes since completing my degree in Photography and Digital Imaging in 2003.

In 2014 I founded Walking Photography, a venture that encourages people to get inspired outdoors and take better photos. Since then I’ve led over nearly over 800 people on various photo walks in both rural and urban areas, as well as leading a number of public walks for institutions like the Canal and River Trust. It’s been a great success and grows year upon year.
